Vanity turned Nightstands!

Friday, September 30, 2011

I picked up this vanity awhile back and finally have had a chance to get to it!!  I decided to take it apart and make it into two nightstands or end tables instead.

Here's the before picture...

It was pretty before but kinda a rickety too!  I like the white color but thought it needed an updated version of it.  So I decided to paint most of it white, but I had to change it up a little so I painted the inside with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey and added new knobs which I painted in the Paris Grey as well.  I also stained and varnished the top in a gorgeous dark walnut!  I think it gives it such a sophisticated look...what do you think?

Would love to keep these babies but off to the store they go!!

Pile O' Junk!!

Pile O' Junk!!

I was in Minnesota last week and scored some great things!!  My brain has been in overload lately coming up with ideas for all the wonderful things I found!

I apologize for the horrible pics...garage is sooooo full that it's hard to take decent photos!

I'm so excited, I found 2 wonderful milk crates, some other wooden boxes, an old fan, a bunch of barn pulleys, tin buckets, wheels....

My husband just shakes his head, he's no longer shocked by the crazy things I bring home! :-)

Progress on our Home Construction!

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Our house is finally looking like a house...we are soooooo excited!

Yeah, some walls!
Wow, we were gone for a few days and now we have a roof, and windows and...

 some siding!!

My kitchen, look at the size of my center island, it's HUGE!

Why hello there fireplace, can't wait to see you resting in your new home!

Carter was so excited to see they put the stairs in, now he can go down to his bedroom!

 and here's his bedroom!

It looks like a house, now I can't wait to see the stucco and the tile roof put on!

What a journey this has already been, we just set our closing date for November can't come soon enough!

Vanity Mirror

Saturday, September 24, 2011

I painted this mirror in a beautiful creamy white and then distressed it, I also removed some of the reflective parts of the mirror and attached a gorgeous yellow and white fabric to it that shows through in those removed areas. Works great in your bathroom to hold your perfume/cologne and some Q-Tips or on you vanity to hold your make-up...Many possibilities!

A little extra work on the mirror but I totally think it was worth it!!

Burlap Ruffle Lampshade

Thursday, September 15, 2011

I have had this lampshade for quite some time and thought it needed a new look!!

It did have a brown cord through those holes, forgot to take a photo before I pulled it out!!

I started by cutting strips that were about an inch wide.
Then with my hot glue gun I applied the glue to the shade and folded the burlap back and forth.
After a couple of rows it really started to take shape!
Finally, after lots and lots of burlap and glue I finished!

I decided to leave the pieces that were coming off, I think it gave it a little something extra!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

Take Care! :-)

Redid a Fun Cane Back Chair Today!

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Here's the before picture:

And here's the after:

I decided to paint it with Annie Sloan Paint in Cream, then I distressed it with the dark wax.  I also used a fun brown fabric with a whimsical tree and blue bird print.

Fun little chair I completed in one afternoon!  Gotta love that! :-)
